Mailbox full or running out of space

When a mailbox is full, new emails bounce back to the sender. Here’s how to free up space.

Free up space quickly

1. Log in to webmail.
2. Empty the Trash and Spam/Junk folders.
3. Sort by size and delete large old emails, or save their attachments elsewhere first.
4. Clean out Sent Items. Old sent emails with attachments take up a lot of space.

Increase the space

• Hosting email: in cPanel → Email Accounts → Manage, raise the mailbox’s storage limit. If your whole hosting plan is full, upgrade your hosting.
• Business Email: upgrade the mailbox to Enterprise Email (25 GB).
• Pro Mail: upgrade the plan or add storage. Contact sales.
• Retired Basic Email plans: these have 1 GB shared between all accounts. Moving to Business Email is the best long-term fix.

Keep a copy of old email

Before deleting, export old mail to your computer: in Outlook, use File → Open & Export → Import/Export → Export to a file (.pst). Store that file somewhere backed up.
