Download a full backup of your website
Save a complete copy of your files, databases and email to your computer.
Keep your own copy before big changes such as a redesign, a PHP upgrade, a migration or cancelling hosting.
Full account backup
- Log in to cPanel and open Backup under Files.
- Under Full Backup, click Download a Full Account Backup.
- Choose Home Directory as the destination, enter your email address, and click Generate Backup.
- When the email arrives, go back to Backup, and click the
backup-....tar.gzfile to download it. - Delete the backup file from your hosting afterwards in File Manager, so it doesn’t use up your disk space.
Just the website, or just the database
On the same Backup page:
- Download a Home Directory Backup: all your files.
- Download a MySQL Database Backup: click the database name.
- Download Email Forwarders / Filters.
You can also download from a past date using Backup & Restore. See Restore files from a cPanel backup.
