Restore files from a cPanel backup

Bring back deleted or changed website files from an earlier date.

1 min read Updated

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Under Files, open Backup & Restore.
  3. You’ll see a list of recovery points (backup dates). Choose one from before the problem started.
  4. Open the Files section, and browse to the file or folder. Your website is in public_html.
  5. Tick what you want to restore, then: – click Recover to put it back in your hosting, replacing the current version, or – click Download to save a copy to your computer instead.
  6. Wait for the restore to finish, then check your website.

To restore a whole WordPress site, restore both the public_html folder and the matching database from the same date.
