Install WordPress

Install WordPress on your domain in a few clicks from cPanel.

1 min read Updated

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Type WordPress in the cPanel search box, and open the WordPress installer, usually listed under Software or as WordPress Manager.
  3. Click Install (or Install Now).
  4. Fill in the details: – Domain: choose https:// and your domain. Pick the https:// option so your site uses SSL from the start. – Directory: leave it empty to install on your main domain. Typing blog would install it at yourdomain.co.bw/blog. – Site name and description: you can change these later. – Admin username, password and email: use a strong password, and avoid “admin” as the username.
  5. Click Install and wait a minute or two.
  6. Log in at https://yourdomain.co.bw/wp-admin.

Keep WordPress secure

  • Turn on automatic updates for WordPress, themes and plugins. Most hacked websites are running out-of-date plugins.
  • Remove plugins and themes you don’t use.
  • Use strong passwords, and give each person their own login.
  • Make sure you have backups, so you can recover if something goes wrong.
  • Keep your PHP version up to date.
