Lock your domain against unauthorised transfers

Turn on registrar lock so nobody can move your domain without your permission.

Registrar lock (also called transfer lock) stops your domain from being transferred to another provider until you unlock it. It’s free, and we recommend keeping it on.

  1. Log in to the Client Area and go to Domains → My Domains.
  2. Click Manage Domain next to the domain.
  3. Click Registrar Lock on the left.
  4. Click Enable Registrar Lock.

Unlock it only when you’re intentionally transferring the domain away. See Transfer your domain to another provider.

Other ways to protect your domain

  • Keep auto-renew on and pay renewal invoices on time.
  • Turn on two-factor authentication for your Client Area.
  • Only give domain permissions to users you trust.
  • Keep the registrant email on an address your organisation controls.
