Check that free SSL is working

See your certificate status in cPanel and fix it if it hasn't been issued.

1 min read Updated

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Open SSL/TLS Status under Security.
  3. Each domain and subdomain is listed with its status: – Green padlock: a valid certificate is installed. – Red or yellow: no certificate yet, or it has a problem. Hover over the icon to see why.
  4. Click Run AutoSSL to request certificates for anything that’s missing. This can take a few minutes.

Why a certificate might not be issued

  • The domain doesn’t point to our server yet. Free SSL is issued only once the domain’s DNS points here. Wait for propagation, then click Run AutoSSL again.
  • The domain or subdomain uses another provider’s DNS (e.g. Cloudflare’s proxy). Point it to us, or use that provider’s SSL.
  • A .htaccess rule is blocking the check. Temporarily remove custom redirect rules and try again.

Once it’s working, force HTTPS so every visitor uses the secure version.
